Announcement + 2025 Film Poll

Announcement + 2025 Film Poll

Well! We're (almost) at the end of the year, and what a fascinating year it's been. Firstly, I want to say thank you to everyone who's supported the Fleapit in its early days. We've begun to build an odd little corner of Sydney here and I look forward to growing that next year.

So, to the announcement. This will be the last (regular) post for 2025 * insert sad crowd noises *. December is a busy month and I've decided to treat myself to a little break. I hope you do too. You deserve it, probably. But don't worry, the Fleapit will be back to it's regularly scheduled broadcasts early next year. Knowing me, I'll probably write some extra articles here and there over the break so keep an eye out for those too.

On to the fun stuff!

It wouldn't be the end of the year without a zeitgeist-y film poll! I want to know what you've been loving this year! The button below will take you to a very short survey on your favourite new release films of 2025. (before you ask; I might be forgiving and let some 2024 films in if they had a 2025 Australian release but also I might not so fight me). Fill it out and share it with your friends so we can get a statistically significant result.

Finally, while we're on break, I wanted to shout out a few events happening around the city.

Pink Flamingo
Every Wednesday in December, Pink Flamingo will be hosting a screening at the Mothership Studios' queer-run pop-up venue, Slipway. Enjoy the summer weather and filthy films on offer!

Golden Age
If you need to get into the Christmas spirit, Golden Age has the ideal line up. Who doesn't want John Waters next to Frank Capra?! There's family favourites such as the Gremlins and some flicks just for the adults (ahem Eyes Wide Shut).

Ritz Cinemas
The Ritz is kicking off 2026 with an epic 10-day run of Park Chan-Wook's filmography to celebrate the release of his latest, No Other Choice. Relive the iconic Oldboy on the big screen or discover some of his lesser known works from 9-18 January.

Have a lovely summer, enjoy some time off, and I'll see you at the movies!
